A: Students who attend an Interview Day will be considered for the following scholarships: President's Academic Excellence, valued at $4,000 yearly; the University Honors scholarship – 30 awarded each year – valued at full in-state tuition; and the President's Scholarship, our most prestigious, with 18 awarded to students each year. The President’s Scholarship is valued at full in-state tuition, housing, and food. On-campus housing is required for President’s Scholars for their first three years.
A: Students who attend an Interview Day will participate in interview sessions, view a room in Honors scholar housing, sit for a professional photograph, and hear from current Honors scholars and from Honors College Dean Greg Bierly. For parents and guardians, we host sessions featuring speakers from different units across campus (including Financial Aid) where families will have the chance to learn more about Indiana State University.
You do not need to bring any documentation with you for Interview Days. You will be sent a QR code via text prior to check-in, and we will provide you with a folder of materials when you check in.
Indiana State University does not release interview questions prior to the events, but don’t worry. All questions focus on you, your experiences, and your goals. You do not need to conduct any research in advance or prepare topics to speak on. Simply arrive ready to:
o Tell us your story, including challenges you’ve overcome and passions you hold. We want to get to know you as a student and as a person.
o Provide specific examples of your leadership and successes—not just academic, but personal and extracurricular as well.
o Be authentic and genuine in your conversations with interviewers.
o Talk about your interest in Indiana State University, your academic plans, and your long-term goals.
A: Interview Days are professional events. Students should dress appropriately according to business professional standards.
An Important Note: Room temperatures in the Hulman Memorial Student Union can vary. Additionally, the scheduled room tour will require everyone to travel to our Honors scholars’ residence halls. While everything on the Indiana State University campus is accessible and located within a 10-minute walk, it is likely to be cold and possibly icy on the dates of our Interview Days. Please ensure that you dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes that are easy to walk in for your own safety!
A: Interview Day events are scheduled for January 17th, 18th, and 25th. Invited students will select their desired session.
